ABOUT ME

Kirk Holland lives in Shanghai, China, where he serves as Director of Performing Arts at an international school. Long before he stepped into classrooms or onto stages, he was a fifteen-year-old shelving books in a small mall bookstore in Fort Worth, Texas — quietly falling in love with stories.

He earned his undergraduate degree in theatre and television from Texas Christian University, with a focus on screenwriting, and later earned a graduate degree in theatre education at the University of Houston. Theatre shaped the way he sees the world: character first, stakes always rising, and emotion at the center.

After coming out later in life, Kirk discovered a deeper urgency in his writing. He began telling stories for the queer community — stories about identity, belonging, family, and the courage it takes to live honestly. His hope is simple: that readers feel seen, understood, and a little less alone.

When he’s not writing, directing, or teaching, he’s usually dreaming up the next story — one that holds space for the complicated, beautiful mess of becoming yourself.
